After 6 homes were lost to erosion in 2013, homeowners South of the Center Island groin installed riprap in an attempt to fortify the dune. Project success was contingent on a contiguous installation end to end. The Foundation acted as a fiscal agent to help raise funding to place stone in front of destroyed homes where homeowners were unwilling or unable to fund it themselves.
